THE CALL OF THE ASHRAM

DK ACADEMY’S SUMMER RETREAT

JUNE 24-27, 2010

The retreat will takes place at Humlegaarden - Kullaberg, beautifully situated by the beach in Humlebaek, (Address: Humlebaek Strandej 11, 3050 Humlebaek) thirty minutes north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The retreat is conducted in English by teachers from several different countries. Accommodations: double/single rooms/shower and toilet (do not contact Humlegaarden for registration and information)  and delicious vegetarian meals.
Keynote: “Act in the future ‘as if’ there are for you no more glamours, and see, my brother, what will eventuate. Endeavour always to live within the Ashram, which is insulated from glamour, and act "as if" the consciousness of the Ashram was intrinsically your consciousness. Go forth to the service which you are rendering ‘as if’ you remained immovable in the Ashram; live always ‘as if’ the eyes of the entire Ashram were upon you. For the remainder of your life let the esoteric philosophical concept ‘as if’ actuate all you do. It is this constant awareness which the two words ‘as if’ embody that will produce in you a fresh use of the creative imagination.” Discipleship in the New Age, Vol. II, p. 554
For the past three years the DK Academy has held a summer retreat at the time of the Cancer full moon.  From its inception, the underlying purpose of this group has been to come together and through the use the creative imagination to simulate and act “as if” we were participating in an esoteric school.  What would this experience be like?  How would we live and act if we were part of such a school?
The theme for this year’s program, “The Call of the Ashram,” will give us the opportunity to ponder these questions and act “as if” to the full extent of our capabilities.  Holding the theme in mind throughout the retreat, students and teachers will together create an atmosphere of spiritual sharing--through deepened periods of meditation, silence, group discussion, focused teaching, ritual, music and spiritual exercises.
During the time of the full moon the veils that normally separate the inner and outer worlds are diminished in potency and a “door stands open.” The energies of the Cancer full moon period convey a particular sensitivity to impression and they will surely aid us in our experiment. Esoterically speaking, Cancer relates to the Ashram, to the centre of all love, the source of those fleeting deep impressions from the other side—to that which we call home. Together with our group brothers we will perhaps be able to sense a oneness and group unity in this space we will create.  We can ponder what is it we have to do if we wish to enter into the Ashram and what is being asked of each one of us during these final fifteen years of the Stage of the Forerunner, the time of preparation for the externalization of the ashrams?
The energies of the retreat will be powerfully augmented by the fact that it occurs just five days after the summer solstice point and during an eclipse on June 26th that powerfully aligns with Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter--all in the early Cardinal signs. These events will bring a tremendous stimulation of the will aspect and we can work together to provide a channel for distribution. Participants will be asked to maintain a meditative focus throughout the event so as not to dissipate the contacted energies; to think and build constructive thoughtforms during the talks and discussion periods; to keep a spiritual diary to aid the process of concretizing and solidifying all impressions thereby widening the contours of the mind.
Some sixty years ago DK wrote, “Students must seek to meet all the planetary changes and opportunities with corresponding changes in their own lives.  They must seek those new attitudes and those new creative approaches which will result not alone in the building of the individual antahkarana, but also in the fusion of the many ‘radiant strands’ which will produce those ‘connecting cables,’ speaking symbolically, which will relate the planetary centres and present the medium along which can pass the fiery will and the predetermined purpose of Deity.  This will bring about the reconstruction of the manifested worlds, and in this task each and every one of you can have his share.” RI, pp. 473-74
Please join us in seeking those new attitudes and creative approaches to construct the group antahkarana. By working together creatively and imaginatively we can strengthen our aspiration to tread the path and solidify the bonds of brotherhood that unite us in the One work.

In the companionship of the One Work,

DK Academy Faculty
